The origin of this painting dates back twelve years before it was painted.
I did a live painting at the first concert of the young Japanese composers’ group Siegfried in Miyazaki prefecture on December 4th, 2003. The abstract painting which I spontaneously painted on canvas consisted of the five colors each composer has chosen.
About ten years later, I conceived an idea of making a concrete painting with the colors of the concert. And the artwork was done in 2015.
Since the group’s name was Siegfried, I painted a dragon. The reason why I chose an Asian dragon was that I had a reverence for a dragon as a divine creature of the water.
